General Application Process

The Board issues licenses to Physician Assistants and Anesthesiologist Assistants and approves registration agreements between physicians/anesthesiologists and PAs/AAs.
Registration agreements contain a detailed job description setting forth the functions and activities of the PA/AA.
The PA/AA scope of practice includes the core duties and skills PAs/AAs may perform once licensed and registered to a physician or anesthesiologist. Additional skills and duties not within the PA/AA’s scope of practice must be requested and approved by the Board.
“Covering” physicians/anesthesiologists can be named to provide supervision to the PA/AA when the supervising physician/anesthesiologist is unavailable.
