Prescribing and Pharmacology of Controlled Drugs

  • All licensees and registrants should ensure that they live up to professional standards of excellence by making a commitment to lifelong learning and participating in continuing medical education (CME) activities. 
  • Board and Commission rules require physicians, PAs, AAs, CRNPs, and CNMs to obtain certain CME credits for license and controlled substances registration renewal. 
  • The Licensee Portal features a CME documentation upload that our licensees and registrants can use as a repository. We urge you to take advantage of this feature.

  • In the near future, the Board will provide online versions of required courses for free to its licensees. 

    Courses will include:

    • Understanding Collaborative Practice in Alabama 

    • Supervisory Practice in Alabama: Roles and Responsibilities 

    • Supervisory Practice: The Role of an Anesthesiologist Assistant and Supervising Anesthesiologist
