Seminar Materials for Nov. 2024 Collaborative/Supervisory Course

Evaluation Link for Nov. 2024 Collaborative/Supervisory Course

This course is for physicians, certified registered nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives and physician assistants in a collaborative practice agreement or registration agreement as well as those interested in developing a collaborative practice agreement.

Collaborative practice between physicians, certified registered nurse practitioners (CRNP) and certified nurse midwives (CNM) is governed jointly by rules of the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners and the Alabama Board of Nursing. The rules currently in effect contain continuing medical education (CME) requirements for collaborating physicians and CRNPs/CNMs for initial and ongoing collaborations. It is critical that affected providers be very familiar with current rules in order to comply with established regulations. This course will not only review the rules of the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners but will also focus on strategies to implement them.

After attending this course, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the laws and rules governing collaborative practice.
  • Define the roles and responsibilities of physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurse midwives in collaborative practice.
  • Identify common issues in collaborative practices and methods for addressing them effectively.
